Terms of Service

Effective date: July 10, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Disaster Risk Report at disasterriskreport.com and your purchase of the report we provide (natural-disaster risk reports for US addresses, from FEMA's National Risk Index). By using this site or buying a report, you agree to these Terms.

1. What you are buying

Disaster Risk Report sells a one-time informational report for $19. The report compiles FEMA National Risk Index data for the US address you supply and presents it in plain English: the overall risk rating, its national percentile, and a rating for each of the 18 hazards FEMA tracks.

2. The report is an informational estimate, not professional advice

The report is provided for general informational purposes only. It is an estimate, not a professional service, and it is not (and must not be relied on as) professional, legal, financial, tax, real-estate, insurance, engineering, or safety advice. It does not create any professional-client relationship. It is not a substitute for a licensed professional inspecting your specific situation or advice from a qualified expert. You are solely responsible for any decision you make, and you should consult an appropriately qualified professional before acting on anything in the report.

3. FEMA ratings are modeled estimates, not a property-level guarantee

The FEMA National Risk Index ratings we present are modeled estimates published at a Census-tract level. They describe expected annual loss across an area, not a measurement or prediction for any individual property, parcel, or structure. The report is not an insurance quote, an underwriting determination, a flood-zone determination, or an official government determination of any kind, and it does not tell you whether a specific disaster will or will not occur. Disaster Risk Report is independent and is not affiliated with FEMA or any government agency.

4. No warranty

The report and this site are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We draw on FEMA's public data and other public sources that may contain errors, gaps, or out-of-date figures, and we do not warrant that the report is accurate, complete, current, or fit for any particular purpose.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Disaster Risk Report, its operators, and its suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the site or the report. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the report or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid for the report ($19).

6. Refunds

Because the report is a digital product delivered immediately, refunds are provided for delivery failure, for example, if you paid but did not receive your report, or the report could not be generated for the address you supplied. If your report failed to arrive or cannot be produced, email [email protected] and we will re-deliver it or refund your purchase. If you believe a specific figure in your report is wrong, contact us and we will investigate and, where a delivery or generation fault is on our side, make it right.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to: resell, republish, or redistribute the report as your own product; scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract content from the site; attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the site or its infrastructure; or use the site or report for any unlawful purpose. The report is licensed to you for your own personal or internal use.

8. Intellectual property

The site, its design, its text, and the report format are owned by Disaster Risk Report and protected by intellectual-property laws. The underlying FEMA National Risk Index and other public data referenced in the report belong to their respective sources. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the report you purchase for your own purposes.

9. Third-party services

Payments are processed by Stripe under Stripe's terms. Analytics are provided by Fathom Analytics. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services, though we choose them with your privacy in mind (see our Privacy Policy).

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, to the extent applicable, the state in which the operator of Disaster Risk Report is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute will be brought in the courts located there.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Your continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
